So it has been years since I have actually stopped in Gatton. I have driven through town many a time, but haven't stopped.
Today I am glad I did.
I seriously think the last time I was there was for Gatton Scrubbers B&S ball in 2003. That was BB (before Ben).
As it turns out Ben & I both were at the 2003 Scrubbers B&S we didn't meet that night.
At that B&S Ben lost a toenail & I fell asleep (passed out) on a lit cigarette.
Ahhh memories 😃.
For those of you who don't know much about Gatton (maybe you have never heard of it) it's a lovely little town in The Lockyer Valley, it's surrounded by farms which produce some of the best fruits & vegetables in the country.
Gatton was one of the first locations added to my list when Tour de parkrun was born.
My family come from Toowoomba, Nobby & Clifton, I still have family in Toowoomba which I visit from time to time.
Why not tee up a parkrun and a free lunch with the family all in one day?
I got up at 4am 😩
Well I set my alarm for 4am & hit snooze a few times.
I was not the slightest bit organise this morning. Someone took my iPod earphones to work and left them there 😡
I also forgot my running glasses 😡
Yay! A 5k Run having to listen to my heavy breathing & grunting (think porno)
After a fair bit of fighting, squabbling & coaxing we hit the road.
I made the ultimate mistake of reading some of the visitors post on Gatton's parkrun page.
Someone saw a snake 🐍 on the parkrun track a month ago.
Hopefully with it now being colder it would have pissed off, but also because I'm soooo bloody fast now I could run past it and I would just be a blur 💁
Today I parkprammed.
This was Will's first trip out in BOB since being releases from hospital.
He bloody loved it, I struggled.
Gatton parkrun track is a 2 large loop with a horse shoe detour around the Lights on the Hill Memorial followed by a shorter inner loop, there were a few inclines.
And far too many inclines for my liking.
There was a rather wet dog shit 💩 near the finish line, on each loop it got more & more splattered.
When you run a 3 loop parkrun you need to focus on something to get you over the line.....
I had the pleasure in meeting Jeanette from Stones Corner parkrun, Debbie, Aleesha & Karen 👋👋👋👋
Aleesha has been on my page since day dot - I was great to meet her in person, and Karen brought (dragged) her 4 kids along for her first ever parkrun.
I think she may have cause the parkrun bug as she is going again next week!
Karen was my chosen one to tick off Gatton parkrun shirt - I appreciated her coming all the way to Gatton to meet me 😃
I fell over the line in 38 minutes on the nose, considering I was pushing the pram I'm happy with that!
Turns out Ben is allergic to Gatton, something went wrong with his eye and it swelled up.
One great thing about Gatton parkrun is they have a clock at the finish line so you can see your time as you cross the finish line.
Overall I had a nice run and am happy to tick another location off the list
