Okay, let's start this blog by you thinking of The Beverly Hillbillies theme song 🎶
So on Thursday night I had a dream that I didn't set my alarm, I ended up sleeping in and I missed parkrun.
So last night I set 3 alarms 🚨
Of which I managed to turn off 2 😬
Mandatory mid-wee selfie 🤳
Out the door.
Thanks to Siri she knew which was to go, it's like magic!
Paradise point in on the Gold Coast, but nowhere near the actual touristy Gold Coast.
It's down near Hope Island 🏝
This is where the theme song comes into play. (Hills that is, swimming pools, movie stars)
It's flash, palm trees, manicured gardens & lawns, boats that cost more than my house 🛥
And me in my little Micra 🚗
I arrived down at the Esplanade at Paradise Point.
It was bloody beautiful.
The sun ☀️ was creeping up over the horizon, the shimmering water 💦,the bin chicken ibises annoying people.
Absolutely bloody beautiful.
I ran to Kristine who I had met at Calamvale parkrun and Grant & his mate Andre who I met when he was touring at Yarrabilba 👋
I was the only person there for the first time run brief.
The course is a fairly simple out and back course, I just told the RD, I would follow everyone 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏃🏽♀️🏃
Clearly he doesn't know me or how slow I am!
AND we were off and racing!
Along the esplanade, under a bridge, along the water, onto a wooden foot path.
It was cold ❄️
Bloody cold ❄️
Once I got started I soon warmed up.
My calves are still killing me thanks to those stupid bloody stairs.
I'm gunna need a bigger tube of fisiocrem Australia to make them feel better!
Now, someone was clearly having a worse day than I.
There was a massive shit 💩on the path, with the most defined shoe print etched in it.
Now, I also don't know if it was human or animal, but I can only assumed they are following the same diet as Will - a hell of a lot of pear juice 🍐
Up to the turn around point, turned back around, I saw the most beautiful pregnant 🤰 woman running. She looked stunning. I can only hope if I have another kid I can look half as good as her.
Run, run, run back down the path, you run past the finish line, keep heading along the path, back down under another bridge down to another turn around point.
Back past the finish line to the final turn around point.
It ain't as bad as it reads.
You can see the finish line!
I ran and I ran and I ran!
I dashed over the line in 33.29
What a lovely bunch of people at Paradise Point - seriously, it's a must do parkrun.
It's flat as a tack.
The view is spectacular.
And for me, I got to see how the other half live.
Nice folks Y'all come back now, ya hear?
P.S. if you are one of those "other half" message me, let's be friends 😂
