After my 3rd alarm 🚨 I rose.
Mid-wee selfie 🤳
Pack the car 🚗 with the kids crap.
Wake the kid 👶🏻
Change the kids nappy in the dark because he's a squirming arsehole is shrieking about the light 🖕
Fight with the octopus 🐙, I mean child, as I strap him into his car seat 💺
I didn't wear my Altra Running shoes this morning because they are Parramatta colours 🖕
There is always next week for my beloved Broncos.
I left Ben to have a sleep in.
That man is fucking amazing. For a start he puts up with me, but each weekend I gallivant around the countryside - he deals with the kid, cleans the house 🏡
I took Ben's car for its ease of nappy changing height and in inbuilt GPS is handy.
I idled outside the house, pressing buttons on the GPS thingie, you almost need a degree in computer science (I don't know if that's a thing) to be able to work it.
Okay, 43k to go!
Drive drive drive - I kind of knew where I was going, I grew up in the Western suburbs, I had somehow managed to get the GPS on silent.
Before I knew it, CRAP - that was my exit!!!
It's ok 👌 - I will just take the next!
Wacol Exit 🛣
Down the off ramp, I might just get back on the Motorway, there will be another exit in the opposite direction.
Springfield exit. Fuck.
I'm going the wrong way!
5.7k to Springfield.
There were those U turn points in the middle of the road - but the sign says "for official vehicles"
Does licking the back of my parkrun Australia barcode 👅 and sticking it to the car door turn me into an official vehicle?
After fucking around & an additional 13k later Will & I arrived.
Rocks Riverside Park is stunning.
The playground looked amazing 🎡
It was cold!
Not 2 complete erect nipples cold 📍📍maybe 2 sleepy erectish nipples 📌📌
I mingled with some of my followers - g'day 👋
Run welcome done ✅
Off to the start line
Before I knew it, it was GO 🚦
I didn't have my iPod 📱 ready 😧
My watch ⌚️ hadn't found its location.
Ohh well, off I ran.
Up the inside, round on the grass, it was as very hectic at the start.
Run run down the path, hook a left, and run run run.
Zig & zag in between people, trying not to knock them over with the BOB.
I was running at the same pace as my friend Jenny, who I haven't run with in years - it was so great to see her & run together. Just like old times when we were younger and for me a lot smaller!
The path was quite nice, it's a shame about the little hills/rises.
The view of the river almost made up for it.
Run run run, down a hill, then up a bit of a hill.
The BOB is an amazing pram, I'm just not the best driver.
Even Will knew it wasn't fun when he called out "oh ohhh" on one of the hill things.
Run run run - turn around point.
Run those same small hills again.
At the 4K mark Will threw out his favourite toy Macca, I had to stop to pick him up, almost causing a pileup in the process.
After a bit of swearing I got going again.
With the pram I'm like a fully loaded B-Double, I take a bit of work to get back up the gears 🚚
Run run run, the finish line is almost insight.
At this point there is a young woman who has stopped running in front of me, I touched her arm as I started to pass her - giving her strict instructions that she HAD to stay in front of me.
She could not be beaten by me & the pram.
Off she went, a little faster but I was hot on her heels 👠
"I will run up the back of your heels with this pram in a minute". In a motivational kind of way - she left me for dust.
Will & I rolled over the line in 36:50.
I couldn't be happier after the sickness week from hell.
Today I had the pleasure in meeting Cara who had just finished night shift 👩⚕️,
Rosie and her fantastic family, Steph who was there to take some additional photos at the finish line, Rudi who had made the trip over from New Farm to say g'day - I will see you again in September Rudi, fellow BRW Janelle, Joanne who I had a great chat with before the run and so many others - I'm shit with names!
I also had the pleasure in meeting Finn & his Dad. Finn's brother was meant to be volunteering today at parkrun but was unwell, so being the amazing kid he is, he took over volunteering instead 🏆
I also caught up with old mates like Jenny, Emeline with Miss in her pram, Kristine who I bump into at various parkrun's 👯, the most amazing looking pregnant woman Brooke 🤰 and the amazing Saskia from @orangeisthenewpb
Rocks Riverside is in a lovely location,
Would I run it again?
Yep, just gotta leave the kid at home.
And get Nissan Australia to upgrade the Micra so it has a GPS system.
