The day didn't start all that well, I hit snooze 3 times and eventually got kicked out of bed by my husband.
My plan was to get my clothes organised the night before, yeah, that didn't happen.
Running around trying to find the perfect tights at 5:40 am is not something I have done before.
Out of a wine glass.
I arrived really early, managed to score a prime location of a car park. I didn't have to walk very far, I was saving my energy of the run.
I met up with Cassie. I also had the pleasure of meeting Helen & Lisa.
Helen & I were wearing the EXACT same outfit.
Picture Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny Devito in the movie Twins 😎
The run started a little late as the Parkrun committee were giving out awards. The run committee were dressed up as grapes 🍇.
The start line was at the top of the hill, everything for me literally went downhill from there.
Gravel, gravel everywhere.
I had visions of myself falling over and compound fracturing something.
Slight inclines along the way felt like massive mountains.
It was sunny, hot and 32 degrees.
I walked and shuffled my way around the track. Swearing to myself the whole way "fuuuuuck, why the fuck have I done this, I'm never fucking coming back"
Now that I have finished the trail I can say I will be back, but I will wait for the cooler months.
Dissapointingly there was no wine drink stops along the way 🙅🍷
Neither at the finishing line.
Right about now I could suck the alcohol out of a stick deodorant.
The finish line was up a hill then along a nice flat bit of grass. It was lovely to look out over the fields at the end of the run.
45.06 was my time - I'm very happy with that considering the track would be suited to 4x4's
To the people who said hello to me along the way - hello back at ya 👋
To the lovely volunteer doing the barcode scanning who told me she loves my page - thank you!
Sirromet is a lovely course, That last hill is an absolute killer, I would highly recommend it to any locals up for a challenge.
Maybe I will become a trail runner after all 🏞🏃♀️
